Thorndon Country Park

Grab your family and head to Thorndon Park for a perfect day out!

Beautiful scenery!
Thorndon County Park consists of 500 acres of diverse habitats and is known for its precious wildlife and many visitors. Colourful woodlands, birdlife, open parkland, fishing and family attractions (like the Gruffalo Trail) make Thorndon Country Park a great destination for all the family.

Thorndon Country Park is divided into Thorndon Park North with the Countryside Centre, and Thorndon Park South. The ‘Old Park’, which is owned by the Woodland Trust, and ‘Old Thorndon Pasture’, which is owned by Essex County Council, link these areas.

The Gruffalo Trail in Thorndon North is a must do for those of you with young families and it's where you'll discover the magic of the deep dark woods, with this self-led trail searching for the amazing hand-crafted carvings of Gruffalo characters. In the summertime why not head to Thorndon South and make use of the BBQ facilities with the family. Be sure to keep an eye out on their website for some of the many activities that are organised throughout the year.
