Since opening, the popularity of Brentwood Theatre has grown and grown, with more than 17,500 visitors every year who come along to see a wide variety of productions. Most shows are performed by non-professional (‘amateur’) companies who rehearse in local halls, arrange costumes, build scenery etc. and bring in their finished production to the theatre for community entertainment.
Brentwood Theatre was built for the community by the community, hosting shows throughout the year that appeal to all ages, paying particular attention to Pantomime season. Owned by a registered charity, Brentwood Theatre Trust is home to forty groups who hire the space to perform and practice. The space can also be hired for a number of nights such as open mic nights, magic, poetry, school drama clubs etc.
The theatre also holds courses for people with special and complex needs with a theatre based musical and sensory experience using lighting, musical instruments and dance.
The theatre also holds a spotlight bar and terrace where refreshments are served sixty minutes before each show and during intervals.
